I've been working within the human neuroscience field (started in basic systems neurophysiology and plasticity, then moved to more clinical and cognitive neuroscience questions) for nearly 15 years, and it has taken me 3 postdocs to realise that what I'd rather do is research within Science & Technology Studies (STS). Has anyone done this type of transition? Is doing yet another (4th!) postdoc my only option? Are any of my skills transferable to STS? I'd appreciate any guidance here!

@weberam2 pulled from Wikipedia (but a good summary): "Science and technology studies (STS) or science, technology, and society is an interdisciplinary field that examines the creation, development, and consequences of science and technology in their historical, cultural, and social contexts." In other words, it's research on how we do research or "science of science", and how science and the way we do it has an impact across different domains (culture, politics, etc.) - hope that clarifies!

@virginiaconde That DOES clarify! And sorry, I guess I should have just looked it up myself.
This sounds like what I would have called
Like, John Ionnidis.
Very cool! Good luck!
