There are only a select few people that society benefits significantly from giving more freedom to. The only reason not to quash freedom and individuality entirely is because it's hard to tell who those people are.
@xennobe It's the other way around. It's not that you don't know who those people are, it's that you need to give everyone the freedom for those people to form(become who they are) in the first place. People like to create idols and heroes, but those are rarely solely responsible for things that they are credited for, there is always a long history and a large community that nurtured/supported them(their ideas).
