@panther_modern @SocialistStan @leemadgwick did you learn nothing from last decade? A lot of fake news is laughably sloppy, just a parade of red flags for anyone who looks twice, from dodgy urls to wildly improbable claims to scenes that aren’t even from the right country and have visible signage in the wrong language. But they get thousands upon thousands of shares and interactions anyway. It only has to be believable for a second to do damage.
@go_shrumm @leemadgwick but unfortunately, as the legal and psychology fields know but few others really understand the extent of, eyewitness memory is actually complete garbage, and it was a glimmer of hope that technology was just starting to move society away from such complete reliance on it.
