A little late for #MosaicMonday but this ancient doggo is very deserving of all our love and attention.

This beautifully detailed mosaic dates to the C2nd BCE Ptolemaic period. The central figure is a dog who is looking *slightly* guilty! The doggo in question sits next to a vessel that seems to be on its side…

The artistry that brings this portrait to life with such vivid character offers a glorious view to the ancient world.

That captures the "oops" perfectly. Too bad the artist is so long gone- I'd definitely chip in on Kickstarter or maybe Patreon for whoever that was.

I'm really curious as to what that thing on the table is. It looks like something metal with a handle maybe. Very curious.

@AndyLowry Definitely curious too. I’d like to see this one up close as the vessel looks like it might be a gilded piece but the shape is very particular.
