I'm getting a reputation here at #Mastodon as some kind of Ronco Boost-O-Matic™. And I appreciate that, seriously.
But I'm really struggling with certain posts. These are often newsworthy, interesting or just plain funny-as-shite toots. Except... they contain links back to #Twitter.
We need to stop giving #SpaceKaren any more click revenue to keep that Effin' Bird on life support.
Attribution? Sure. But please copy and paste the text or just screenshot it. Anything but a link.
Thank you.
Happy birthday Esther Applin (middle)🎉 🥳🎊
—in 1921 Esther suggested that #microfossils could be used in stratigraphy, but was ridiculed: “Gentlemen, here is this chit of a girl... telling us that we can use #Foraminifera to determine the age of formation. You know that it can’t be done”
Oh yes it can! On top of being used to date crucial events in our planet's history, #Forams have revolutionized our understanding of past climates, & has created thousands of jobs globally! #WomenInSTEM
“To the extent that people remain active on Twitter, they preserve the viability of Musk’s gambit. The illusory sense of community that still lingers on the platform is one of Musk’s most significant assets. No matter which side prevails, the true victor in any war is the person selling weapons to both sides.”

Oh yeah! Here's hoping the My Pillow guy wins so he utterly destroys the GOP! It’s #FollowFriday so I hope folks utilize the hashtag to find my account here!
Give me a boost! Maybe if I can show some of the big accounts on Twitter that it’s possible to grow sizably and quickly here, too, they’ll migrate over!
I must confess, I’m struggling with the 500 character and spaces limit and trying saying anything more detailed with that amount. I resource to abbreviation, numbers and ampersands. Still… The 500 limit is only about 1 paragraph. That’s funny coming from Twitter with a smaller limit, but has the ability to chain posts in a thread. I know some instances allow more space, although I hate to change instances. I like it here. Does anyone have suggestions, or maybe instances that have bigger limits?
Imagine telling your spouse they had the chance to divorce you eight years ago and they backed down. So now you won't *let* them try again.
By declining Scots the chance at #indyref2, the Supreme Court has just made Scotland's independence more likely. Unions work when all parties are free, valued, and engaged.
The journalist Grant Wahl was trying to enter the USA- Wales game wearing a LGBTQ T-shirt. He was detained for 25 minutes by #qatarworldcup security and banned from the stadium.
This happened despite the assurances from the FIFA that #lgbtq flags and t-shirts would be allowed in #Qatar.
As I was approaching sleep last night and my mind was doing that random wandering thing, I suddenly had memories of the car I was supplied for student driver education. It was a '72 Olds Cutlass Supreme, which at the time was a mid-sized car but would be a total land-yacht today. I thought it might be a fun thing to talk about with random strangers, so I'll ask y'all* the question: What car did you use for driver's ed? Did your school supply it?
*I lived in Texas for a time, and am thus certified to say "y'all" unironically.
Looking through old images I came across this one I took in 2010 in the Grand Canyon, back when I lived in the US. Before I visited I thought "ok, it can't be as spectacular as people say, they must be exaggerating". Boy was I wrong! It's impossible to convey with words or images the sheer size of this landmark. #LandscapePhotography
