This will be my last 🧵 of caution urging you to take care this New Year's Eve. There's a lot going on that the media and even the CDC are not promoting. I guarantee the risks are greater than you think they are. Some of you think we're in the end-stages of the #COVID19 pandemic. I think we're likely in the Fμ<% Around and Find Out (FAFO) stage. All the maskless crowds, parties and travel combined with the failure to get the bivalent booster is the FA part, and 2023 may bring us the FO portion.
@augieray life is a bunch of choices that has risk. Driving a car, riding a bike, crossing a street, Going outside you could be bitten or scratched by an animal with a really bad disease ... Everything we do carries some level of risk. Some are willing to take more risk, like skydiving. Others play it more safe and stick to minimizing risk.
I think everyone has enough information available and vaccines to make the choice of risk they want to put themselves into related to COVID.
Riding a bike and crossing a street aren't contagious and if you drive recklessly and hurt someone you get arrested. Your false equivalencies are just justification for being selfish. It's called PUBLIC health for a reason. Next time you infect someone with COVID I hope you think about what that means along the entire infection chain.
