#Covid19 and long-term cardiovascular issues

"As seen in previous studies, COVID-19 was linked to a sharply increased risk of blood clot-related issues – including heart attack and stroke – immediately after diagnosis compared to people who never had COVID-19. But the new study found that risk remained higher for some problems up to 49 weeks later."

And, as in many of these studies, they get portrayed in many media sources as "For nearly a year" when it's really "For *at least* nearly a year" because the study, in this case, only lasted 49 weeks.

From the study:

"We studied vascular diseases after COVID-19 diagnosis in population-wide anonymized linked English and Welsh electronic health records from January 1 to December 7, 2020."

@BE That is true. There are some studies that are now looking at CV impact for longer time. There are several in Nature that are already showing impact even in the second year after infection.
The biggest issue in tracking effects of infection for longer periods of time is that now up to 1/4 of new cases are reinfections.
Regarding #LongCovid sufferers, a substantial number have cardiovascular dysfunction, POTS and other issues 3 years from initial infection.
