Talked to a friend that says Colombia has no covid anymore. No tests, no infections, no deaths. It's all over, apparently. I should go back so I don't worry anymore, they said.

Quick search on Colombian socials shows ppl with conjunctivitis and flu together though. A doctor surprised because she had 5 cases of pink eye in a day. And complains of never ending colds. Govt is still reporting 670 cases a week and about 8 deaths. Pretty low, yes, but if no one is testing...

I'm unconvinced.

We've entered the data blackout phase of COVID in a lot of the world, unfortunately. My county in Florida, US has a 7 day average of 0 cases, officially. Because there's officially 0 cases there's officially 0 deaths.

Everyone here is acting as if that's because it's really gone and not because what started as one hospital's stubborn refusal to test for COVID, for at least the last year, now encompasses all three hospitals in the county. There's no municipal water here, everyone's on septic, so no wastewater samples to refute that, either.
