Last night's mixed #LABR #fnatasybaseball draft. This is the 25th anniversary of the LABR draft sponsored by USA Todag and I look forward to the privilege of being in the AL auction March 4th down in West Palm Beach

Soren Stevenson is challenging Andrea Jenkins in Minneapolis Ward 8. Stevenson has worked in housing & lost his left eye after being shot by Mpls police during a racial justice protest. He was later awarded $2.4 million. I’ve met Soren and find him very credible. Having police shoot out his eye is a big part of his story but he’s knowledgeable about far more than that (having worked w/Our Streets & w/a grad degree from the U). Ward 8 is progressive & now gets a choice. sorenstevenson.org/?link_id=1&

My partner just got over #COVID19. W/o locking ourselves in separate rooms, we avoided spreading it in our house while still be social (watching shows, conversations etc.). Through:
1. Masking
2. Testing
3. Upper room UV
4. Sleeping + eating in separate rooms
5. HEPAs everywhere
6. Ventilation
7. Being up to date on vaccines
I’m very struck by how if this happened in March 2020 we’d have used hand sanitizer but most likely infected both of us. #COVIDISAirborne #Covidisnotover #MaskUp

@historyofpunkrock my favourite joan jett story was when bratmobile broke up on stage and neumann and smith had stormed off, leaving wolfe in tears, alone, while five hundred people stared, jett muscled her way up onto the stage, said something to the effect of “buck up kiddo, i was in a band that had a shitty break up, too. it’ll be fine”, then drove wolfe back to dc from new york.

There were three otters on the ice in the Grand Marais, Minnesota, USA harbor this morning. It was fun to watch them play around.

It seems like when I see these things are on the mornings that I leave my long lens home.

"America...just a nation of two hundred million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns and no qualms about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable."

The state sued thousands of homeowners for not following the rules in how they spent post-Katrina recovery grants.

After a joint news investigation by The Times-Picayune | The Advocate, WWL-TV and ProPublica, the governor announced Thursday that the state will no longer try to collect the money.

I seem to have a "delete & redraft" button, but no "edit." Is that just how my instance rolls?

Asked Google to play "new wave," as is age appropriate but was a first for me. I was surprised at how much I liked hearing "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats.

Returning to my favorite obscurities shortly.

By chance, I woke up around 12:45 am. and noticed that it seemed bright outside. So I went to the window and saw this nice display of northern lights. I guess shortly before this was taken, the display also had some vivid reds. I missed that part, but I'm so glad I was able to see this.

Daily Inspiration: "Avoid the delusion of exceptionalism!" - Futurist Jim Carroll

An ex-Google engineer by the name of Praveen Seshadri caught a lot of attention yesterday for his post a few days ago, "The maze is in the mouse," featuring the sub-heading, "What ails Google? And how it can turn things around" More on the reasoning in his post in a moment, but it did feature this bit of commentary which immediately caught my attention:

---

The way I see it, Google has four core cultural problems. They are all the natural consequences of having a money-printing machine called “Ads” that has kept growing relentlessly every year, hiding all other sins.

(1) no mission, (2) no urgency, (3) delusions of exceptionalism, (4) mismanagement.

Unfortunately, this is not my first experience watching the gradual decay of a dominant empire.

--

The phrase 'delusions of exceptionalism' captures so much of what I've been trying to say here for a time that I knew I had to find a way to use it. The result was the creation of today's image for today's quote.

Delusions of exceptionalism.

Dangerous - and destructive!
