Side rant: it is utterly stupid that Safari on the mac has no setting to always open bookmarks in a new tab. I never, ever, in any circumstance want it to replace the current page - but that's precisely what it does, and apparently cannot be changed. I can middle-click - ugh - or Command-Click - to get it to open in a new tab. So - it's very possible. It's just not a setting, and I see people asking since 2010. That's over a decade of Apple being the new Sun and deciding what it will or won't allow our pretty little heads to do. Very good apple - it took me LESS THAN A DAY after switching from Firefox (because reasons - firefox default security breaks too much stuff) to become disgusted and annoyed and swap default back to firefox. That's a record!
