I'm not even going to try to explain what I'm up to here, except to say that you would be stunned at how much of my practice ends up happening in spreadsheets.

I'm also tempted by a new bitmap font, Ark, pictured here in 12 pixel proportional and 16 pixel monospace. Ark's stated goal is to be a pan-CJK font at three sizes — but it certainly seems to share Unifont's quixotic ambition of 100% coverage of the basic multilingual plane. SIL Open Font License too, which means we could help! github.com/TakWolf/ark-pixel-f

on that note: since what I'm about to do will unquestionably break compatibility with my old universal typesetting library, Babel, I'm going to need a new name for version two. I'm thinking Quixote.

today in yak shaving: I have implemented something new and cool for Open Book text rendering but — alas! — in my haste to get to urgent care on Thursday, I left every last one of my Open Book prototypes at school. My ankle is probably healed enough to make the trek to the island by subway, but then, could it just wait for Monday?

on the one hand i think my instinct for constant forward momentum sometimes sets me back; on the other hand, i don’t know how else to be.
