If you find yourself a smart person in an industry of smart people you may not know how to stand out from the crowd and get noticed; may I suggest you try kindness?

People remember kindness more than they remember smart anyway.

Make people feel appreciated and heard.

@Blenster I cannot emphasize enough how true this is.

I would also add that you can never go wrong looking for ways to help lift others around you up. That is the easiest way to become recognized as a leader.

@Blenster

unless you are competitive and like a challenge, an alternate solution is to move to an industry where you are above average

@Blenster
> If you find yourself a smart person

I was able to stop reading at that point 😆

@Blenster can confirm that when I worked in a building full of clever and funny people, the one person everyone adored (and rightly) was very kind and sincere, and thus came across as very clever anyway

@Blenster @wendynather God yes. “Smart” is pretty thick on the ground. “Kind” and “compassionate” are unpleasantly rare.
