I think I will be switching over to as soon as I figure out how. ๐Ÿง

Sometimes I really love medicine. Sometimes I feel like the entire system is being held together with WD40 and duct tape.

'Thank You' cards are my favorite thing ever. They sustain me. I'm so glad to have helped someone on their path. This card filled me up with warm fuzzies after a long day. ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ’– I've come to collect 'Thank You's-- one day I aspire to have a whole wall of them in my future office!

I'm so proud of this person!!!!

Tomorrow morning at 10:30am PST, I will be speaking at the fourth annual Stanford Conference on Disability in Healthcare and Medicine at a session titled 'Navigating Disability Identity and Activism in Medical Social Media Communities'. Please share if you can!

I have certainly gained a lot (and lost some) due to my outspokenness and honesty on social media as a disabled student-- but it's been a net gain, for sure! Come hear me talk about it!

I will be joined by fantastic co-panelists:
- Andrea Dalzell MSN-ED, RN
- Chase Anderson, MD, MS
- Anna Valdez, PhD, RN, FAADN, FAEN

And wonderful moderator Zoey Martin-Lockhart, MA!

Please don't miss it! I have been looking forward to this for a long, long time. We have nearly 1000 people registered and I would LOVE to see that number hit 1000!

Thinking about the time a tenured professor scoffed and said my social media was embarrassing (presumably because I'm openly queer and disabled) then not a few weeks later my college of medicine featured me on their social media. ๐Ÿฅฐ

I have officially learned to never underestimate the value of rest in graduate school.

Possibly the most frightening talent of the brown bear is an uncanny ability to blend seamlessly into the environment in an almost chameleon-like manner, allowing them to easily surprise their unsuspecting prey.

I know that many people have relied on Twitter as a venue to promote their crafts, so given the current atmosphere I was happy to see that there's a Mastodon neighborhood for people's shops (separate from personal accounts)

But! The big thing Mastodon needs to be addressing is onboarding. Right now, having to pick a server scares a lot of people off. This process could probably be made easier, and more clear in what it means for the average user.

And we probably shouldnโ€™t say โ€œyour server doesnโ€™t matterโ€ when many instances are currently talking about defederating the largest instance that many newcomers land on.

Hi @disability and @disabled.social ! Would it help to do a thread about various Mastodon features, how they differ from Twitter (is that helpful to know? sound off in replies!), post privacy feature, accessibility features, etc?

I have written/bookmarked toots on these, and I could curate them all into a thread, if folks would find that helpful?

What is best for our community? What info do you want to see concerning this site and its access?

One of the best things about following #mosstodon and #lichensubscribe is seeing new people discover them and be so charmed. (Donโ€™t miss #sporespondence!)

Hi there ๐Ÿ‘‹

This place seems cool and I'm excited to learn how to be a good member of the community.

I work in climate tech but I'm very interested to learn more about cooperative governance, so I've joined up with the good folks at social.coop.

I like: hiking, climbing, knitting (badly), reading, armchair philosophy, meeting and learning about people, hanging with my partner and kiddo.

#introductions

Hi! We're #OpenNotes and tipping our toes into #MedMastodon. ๐Ÿ‘‹ Our team includes clinicians, social scientists, and patient advocates, working together to identify and disseminate best practices for sharing medical information with patients, families and care partners.

We're motivated by evidence indicating that when health professionals offer patients and families ready access to clinical notes (+ other parts of their records), the quality and safety of care improves.

#Introduction Hi! Iโ€™m an associate professor in political science at The Department of Government, Uppsala University, Sweden.โ€จMy research interests are #gender and #politics, #masculinities, #institutions, political #violence, #corruption, #authoritarianism etc.

Dear students:

If youโ€™re considering emailing a former professor just to check in and say hi, but are hesitant because you have nothing substantive to say, consider this an invitation to go ahead and send that email. It really means a lot.
