So, I showed up to my book launch at the literary festival today. Telling Greek and Roman myths, appropriately dressed because why not :)
Then I was told 3 minutes before stage time that... my #mythology book is not being sold at the festival.

So 8pm, at an adult literary event, I couldn't actually sign. Greek mythology. Because there is a school building nearby.
I'm sure it is just a coincidence that the disability and long-term sickness rates in three nations starting rising at the start of the #COVID19 pandemic and are still rising almost five years later, despite the fact the global health emergency ended.

Interesting study but I think Nature's headline is more sensationalized than accurate. The study counted who kept publishing in the years after their first publication.
Under that metric, I'm still a scientist (I publish in librarianship now) but my husband (a chemist who worked in R&D) is not?

@dbellingradt Been there; 8 Jahre befristete Stellen mit einer venia in Philosophie. Die ich jetzt wohl abgeben werde. Seit diesem Sommer bin ich "raus" aus #academia, und ich merke jetzt erst, was für ein Gefängnis es war. Tolle Themen, intellektuelle Selbstverwirklichung, jajaja, aber zu meiner großen Freude und Erleichterung gibt's das auch anderswo. Halt anders. Aber dafür anständig entlohnt, ohne diese ständige Entwertung der Befristung, mit klaren Aufgaben, und am allerbesten: Feierabende!

So, just now I learned that you can convert miles to kilometers with the Fibonacci sequence?
A mile is 1.609 kilometers.
The Golden Ratio, the ratio between Fibonacci numbers as they get large, is 1.618.
So, within about 1%. And large doesn't need to be that large, it's actually pretty accurate from about 8 onwards.
