@charlottekl @Polypompholyx Utilising the sunlight for heating in winter but keeping it out in summer is surprisingly straightforward as well. Either by shading the higher standing sun (low tech) or by coating the windows to reflect the IR light at certain angles (higher tech, but I first saw this in windows installed in 1981).
Would you like to learn from some of the best microscopists 🔬 the nuts & bolts of light #microscopy for #lifescience applications? If so, you should check out this free comprehensive #iBiology series with presentations by #RonVale @kurtthorn #NicoStuurman #StefanHell #DanielFletcher #JeffLichtman #EdwardSalmon #ShinyaInoue #RogerTsien & many more covering topics ranging from #imagingformation, #fluorescence, #superresolution & #lightsheet #microscopy to #Optogenetics 👉 https://www.ibiology.org/online-biology-courses/microscopy-series/
@jesswade I cannot look at the "now" picture without thinking "Purkinje Cell". 🫢
Generally that may be true in some countries (Germany for example differs there), but the president of the USA swears an oath to "preserve, protect, and defend" the constitution. Breaking that oath would be perjury, no?
a 2-gram 3-photon microscope! featuring tiny little silicon photomultipliers, and syncing photon counting to the room light flicker
A postdoc position is available with Kazoo Kitamura at the University of Yamanashi in Japan. I can 100% say that it would be great to work with Kazuo, he would be a great postdoc advisor.

@giorgiogilestro @MatteoCarandini Another point to consider is that the underlying (design)philosophy of Mastodon is different. "Increasing visibility" does not appear to be a core aim. Twitter et al. need it as a central part of their business model, as it is the best way to draw people in. Mastodon isn't a business and doesn't have that need.
This seems like a step improvement in 2-photon microscopy

Spencer has a nice thread on it on Twitter (I don't think he's on Mastodon yet?): https://mobile.twitter.com/Labrigger/status/1589471340356333568
Okay this might be a long post
One thing that I realised is making #twittermigration harder for people to switch is because the whole concept can feel daunting & overwhelming for non-tech savvy people.
With Twitter to them it was straight forward and easy to find topics they enjoy but with mastodon its a bit different.
So if you’re new to mastodon or you want to introduce someone to mastodon here are some tips, useful sites & tools:
Twitodon - Find your Twitter friends on Mastodon
FediFinder- Similar to Twitodon
Fedi Tips - an informal, unofficial guide for non-technical people who want to use Mastodon and the wider Fediverse
Fedi Directory - A human-curated small selection of accounts to spice up your timeline.
Trunk -Trunk allows you to mass-follow a bunch of people in order to get started with Mastodon or any other platform on the Fediverse
Fediverse.info -growing list of people and topics can help you discover mutual interests with people around the world
Mobile Apps:
Metatext for iOS
Tusky for Android
Lastly if you are interested in setting up your own instance you can learn via https://learnfoss.org/ its completely free and its made by the wonderful @stux
I apologize for the long post lol, just hope this helps anyones transition over
A brief thread on what will probably become the first pinch point as Mastodon grows and more "important people" start to use it. It won't be harassment (though there will be that too).
Rather, it will be authentication. But there are ways to solve this problem that are true to the Fediverse spirit. /1
