This @APoD #picture is really nice. It shows the Wolf's Cave #Nebula, a region where an obscur, dusty nebula (in brown) meets a #supernova remnant (in red). The blue light at the top of the dark nebula is from a massive #star.

One of my crow friends decided to give me a gorgeous autumn backdrop for picture-taking today! 🍁
They follow me on dog walks to get the occasional treats I toss to their way. Love these amazing birds.
I fudging love the tree at the entrance of the house. #nature. Just back from an evening walk, now on to writing.
So much more love and sense of community on this platform than I’ve experienced elsewhere. Thank you to everyone who has followed, favourite and retooted!
Towards the north end of Loch Maree lies the Slattadale parking area. A narrow single track lane takes you down to the loch side where the view south opens up. The islands of Loch Maree are important for wildlife and also have a long history of local folklore.
Do you follow too many people?
Do you want to organise your Mastodon home timeline into several themed mini-timelines that are easier to navigate?
You can do this on Mastodon using the "Lists" feature, and here's a guide all about it:
https://fedi.tips/how-to-use-mastodon-and-the-fediverse-advanced-tips/#UsingListsOnMastodon
You can use Lists on third party apps like Tusky for Android or Metatext for iPhone/iPad, or on your server's website.
This one is for all the new people on #Mastodon: did you know that the #fediverse has more than just a microblogging replacement? And that they can all interoperate with your Mastodon account?
Check them out!

To this extent I'm really interested to know how the age breakdown of people on the #Fediverse. On one hand it would seem to make sense to me that most people here remember the "old internet" before the centralization and they're here to rekindle that flame of independence. On the other hand the youths are generally pretty up on this whole technology thing. I grew up on the internet and since then smartphones have become even more ubiquitous.

Wow! Once in a lifetime shot!
This amazing image of a meteor was captured by Jonathan Eggleston in West Virgina, USA, during the recent lunar eclipse.

I was reflecting the other day on the "like" function on multimedia sharing platforms like youtube, instagram etc... I wish that it was a scaled value calculated something like this: (amount of media consumed)/(number of likes given). So for someone who watches a lot of content but drops a lot of likes, those likes will add moderate boost to the algorithm, but then someone like me, who watches a good amount but only likes things if they are truly phenomenal can just drop like bombs on content that is actually superb. #youtube #instagram
Just another statistic.
