Another interesting pattern in the graphs of convoy-related media coverage is that when RT’s coverage dropped off, Fox News’ coverage basically took its place — almost as if Russian propaganda outlet RT and Fox News are interchangeable, at least for coverage of certain issues like the convoy, which is interesting and likely a reflection of the alignment between right-wing media and Russian propaganda. 2/

Curious about the links between #beef and #climate? Our article answers 6 q’s:

1. How does beef production cause greenhouse gas emissions?

2. Is beef more resource-intensive than other foods?

3. Why do some people say beef is only a small contributor to #GHG emissions?

4. Can beef be produced in more #sustainable ways?

5. Do we all need to stop eating beef in order to curb climate change?

6. Would eating less beef be bad for jobs in the #food & #agriculture sector? wri.org/insights/6-pressing-qu

I sat by an election denier on the airplane and he started poking me in the arm to be emphatic about his views on people stealing ballots secretly and the airplane was full and I couldn’t move anywhere so I started explaining the yellow fever in very great detail, all the way down to telling him about the bloody vomit that looks like coffee grounds and it worked. He stopped talking to me. The moral of this story is you can’t out-weird an academic; our toolset is too vast. #vastearlyamerica

How 2022 has substantially, and favorably, changed global climate outlook.
Despite record fossil fuel pollution in 2022, plummeting clean technology costs and backlashes to Russia’s war in Ukraine leave open a path to meeting Paris climate targets.

"Wind turbines kill birds.

While this is true, it misses an important piece of context:

Fossil fuel power plants kill 35x more birds per GWh than wind turbines do."

Despite all the renewable energy investments and installations, actual global greenhouse gas emissions keep increasing. That’s largely due to economic growth: While renewable energy supplies have expanded in recent years, world energy usage has ballooned even more—with the difference being supplied by fossil fuels

#Food Wastage Due to #Premature Discarding: A Low-cost #Sensor to Test #Freshness | Scientists have developed an inexpensive sensor using PEGS #technology which can test #food #freshness and can help reduce wastage due to discarding food prematurely (throwing away of food solely because it is close to (or passed) the use-by date, regardless of its actual freshness). The sensors can be integrated into food packaging or tags.

There's A LOT of discussion about content moderation right now and very little of it touches on the fact that we've all lived on the big social sites for the last decade-plus thanks to the massively exploitated labor of mostly-invisible moderation workers. The social web at scale wouldn't have happened without these laborers, who in addition to shit wages, have been exposed to literally every imaginable horror.

If we're remaking this world, let's do better on that front.

@kaydubatl @Deglassco I’m so glad you feel that. 🥰💕Other than calling out, blocking & reporting any BS I see is there something else specific #wyp can do in this app to make it better. #twittermigration #KHive

@Deglassco Southerner here so definitely understand. I’m moreso saying I like the option of having somewhere else to go (for those that may want a break from or choose not to “fight the good fight”) versus having no safe space option at all. Same way we go out in the world - I do my part to try to impact and educate people’s viewpoints knowing some may NEVER change. At some point you want to go home or be in a space and just have a good time in peace. It’s possible here, I feel 🙂

@Deglassco I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my experience so far and hope that others find the same community that I’ve found on here. I’m all for the decentralized model - that other app just felt like you could not escape that energy at all as it was programmed to keep pushing it to you. At least you can leave and go to someone else’s house who got more sense on here, just like in real life 😄
