A lot of the folks who became climate deniers started out fighting air pollution regulations, and never really left that fight. I wrote something about it for Rolling Stone, but my editor there left, took it to The Guardian and editor there left too, so it sat. Last week I realized the main guy in the story I'd been working on is at the same org as the folks suddenly fighting renewables again. So many zombie arguments! Finally decided to just publish it: https://www.drilledpodcast.com/drilled-down-when-it-comes-to-climate-obstruction-coal-is-still-very-much-alive/
Braid: Sovereignty Act will be unveiled Tuesday to a public not yet convinced
Good luck AB! The FEDs have a much bigger sledgehammer. QC also took a huge hit to the economy with their nonsense that took them decades to recover from as head offices moved to Ontario!
"Smith’s bill goes a long step further. It will enable retribution against existing federal laws and measures either through refusal to comply or more specific actions."

Bird site / hate speech musings
Great "how it started / how its going" metaphor here from @waiterich on the decline of Twitter. Coral bleaching happens when the coral expel the algae because they are heat stressed. Hate speech and bad actors have a similar effect, making the environment hostile to the vibrant diverse voices we'd all come to enjoy there.

Thinking about #ClimateChange and the latest #IPCC reports, this came to mind:
It is clear that it has begun. It is just as clear that how it ends is up to us.

We know that #climatechange is making storms and droughts more severe, and as a result it's unearthing other decades or century old finds https://www.businessinsider.com/climate-change-exposed-dozens-unusual-and-unsettling-finds-in-2022?r=US&IR=T
As an unusual 2022 Atlantic #hurricane season officially ends this week, #climate records suggest we may be significantly underestimating future risks of storms.
Even recent years of record storms like 2020 and 2021 were far less stormy than periods centuries ago, according to studies of sediment cores.
And #ClimateChange is accelerating the conditions for storm growth, while rising seas make even weaker storms more dangerous.
