SYNOPSIS:

A fascinating, thought provoking post.

A nostalgic point of view, fluent, articulate, yet tinged with concern.

I sense it is well intentioned.

RATIONALE:

As a Scottish bloke I see similarities with the Irish diaspora that migrated to Scotland's Central belt catholics are okay as friends, protestants can't be trusted etc. Or the grocer is now an Indian and other such nostalgic culturally sculpted opinions.

EXPERIENCES:

Then I recall various vacations in mid Wales, North Devon, North Wales, the Islands of my birth nation.

The locals initially suspicious, relaxed when you reached out with direct, respectful humour (I am autistic so sometimes I miss the human cues especially when best not to respond!).

NOTE: The art of the answer to a rhetorical question or viewpoint is not in my tool box.

Despite my clumsiness, in general it works because I attempt not to upset others and try to blend in). The majority of locals are decent accommodating people.

INITIAL IMPRESSION:

Mastodon seems to be a calmer platform than Twitter, which can be nasty. I struggle to embrace the concept of fact free frees speech given equal value to informed opinion.

My mind is a malleable granite, my opinions are set in stone and can be changed. The sculptors tools of informed opinion chisel and shape. I enjoy having my worldview improved!

My reaction to the meditation in the article are ying and yang. The writer is excited 😊 and concerned 😟.

The article is confusing. I cannot discern whether I am welcome or not welcome.

I will tred carefully in the Fediverse and will always remember to wipe my feet.

I have attached the metaphorical doormat from an episode of the Scottish comedy Still Game.
