That's a pretty cool #app that @howtospace just posted. It simulated the #impact of an #asteroid of different composition or #comet on any location on the #Earth. You can change the size, speed, incident angle and see all the (catastrophic) consequences.
So, I tried it with the scenario of most of #Hollywood #scifi #movies: the asteroid is hitting #Paris (why always Paris ??).

Don't worry, these events are extremely unlikely.
@ydna @RegulatoryAssistanceProject @janrosenow quick scan gets me to SWRI seems to have an income stream from researching ICE efficiency for Japanese mfgs. I’ll go with the latest academic studies.
@ydna @RegulatoryAssistanceProject @janrosenow There are plenty of good studies - tldr a few years pays back the CO2 from manufacture (on an average grid) and BEVs have a smaller footprint even if fully coal powered.

“In #Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment and counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”
Make sure everyone understands this — It’s costing us far too much to NOT provide housing and supports to those who are homeless.

@timbray the bitcoin price is in a period of semi-stability. we think the balancing forces are:
* if it goes too low, the big boys risk liquidation
* if it goes too high, the bagholders might try to cash out
so a big explosion happens and ... that sets the price level until the next one
so for price action, someone needs to be seriously out of the money and have to sell
