Covid is on the up at the moment. Take care everyone.
@kityates
I wondered why no one turned up to that meeting.
@conatus I’m chalk. Saves on mowing the lawn.

Hello Matt.
Thanks for keeping the fascination with Maths alive. During school I had so much fun with mathematical puzzles, events and competitions. But after years of hard engineering classes at university I really miss the whole doing hard stuff just because it's interesting spirit I assosiate with Maths. Your content always communicates that very spirit so excelently.
@OReillyMedia what is it with the oreil’ly website and all the resources promised in my newly purchased book? I feel like I’ve been sold a pup as all the promised support has gone. I was browsing many books on the same subject and chose yours (Learning SQL 3rd edition) in part because of the support. Having an online sql sever to play with on my iPad was a big part of my decision. Pulling that rug out was a mean trick. I will walk past the O’Reilly section next time.
@SeanJones well, it half works.
@SexyCyborg mind blowing for a westerner church-school educated older person to contemplate that there are people who have never been in a church. We (humans) are poor at removing ourselves from our self-cantered view of the world.
If you ever get the chance, they are wonderful works of civil engineering and beautiful spaces. As are mosques.
@danielbarnett if you still need, I’m up for it.
@Popehat well actually I do. On my work machine where it is a choice between edge and adobe, are you seriously telling me you’d choose adobe?
@RichardJMurphy
Completely agree. Streeting seems determined to become Milburn 2.0 with a giant chip on his shoulder, and Starker enabling. Cameron famously said “the last thing the NHS needs is another top down organisation” which I took him to mean in the sense of a coup de grâce. Having worked through every set of reforms since fundholding, I’m not convinced they improved anything. And nhs bureaucracy (such as it is) is only there because successive governments have tried to exert finer and finer control. Administration supporting clinical services is threadbare. I’m a consultant of 20 years - guess who gives out passwords for our imaging system? Guess who fills in forms for high cost drugs? Guess who transfers booking information by hand from one computer system to another? Guess who types letters? Yep, me.

Pitiful is the word that comes to mind. Obviously chosen so to be.
Very exciting to see the first patient treated with this exciting and techologically advanced cellular therapy for cancer with the Integrated Circuit Techology CAR T cells from

Just come across this amazing website. If you love music and exploring, have a look. Hours of fun!
@conatus read the books too - Mick Herron. Brilliant.

I cease to be shocked any more; am completely numb. The Tories have hit yet another low - big money takes precendence over animal (and human) welfare. They disgust me, as do police who are complicit. Nowhere is safe. https://twitter.com/secrettory12/status/1610178339196510209

It’s not just Covid. It’s not just flu.
Yes we have 16 ambulances queued outside and patients on trolleys in the main hospital corridor but at the same time 3 of our operating theatres are down - because since 2010 we haven’t been spending money to maintain air handling kit. Just like we haven’t invested in social care. This crisis has a long prelude.
I like vulfpeck. And R. And Wulferampton. I don’t like COVID or Brexit or strange billionaires.
The day job is retinal surgery.
