I am not understanding what #calckey is.
1. It seems like it is a rewrite/alternative server to the mastodon server. Looks to be written in Rust. It is a fork of #misskey, which seems to be written in typsescript
2. But since it uses ActvityPub, it's interoperable with Mastodon
3. Seems like you can't migrate your Mastodon account over.

So basically an alternative microblogging interface to the fediverse with different server software.

This is getting really interesting and 🤯

It is really starting to show the power of the Fediverse. We don't even have to use the same backend server to talk and be friends with each other.

But I guess this also means they are free to implement blocklists and such however they want. And Mastodon admins actually have to worry about ALL servers in the Fediverse. Meaning blocklists need to include pixelfed, calckey, misskey, and any new ActivityFeed server types that show up

Wow, just wow

@TheSteve0 Yep! The really cool part is that someone can easily solo host their own instance or upon multiple instances.

I think the #Fediverse will really become crazy once #Instagram’s #Twitter killer is revealed & #Tumblr joins.

@darnell @TheSteve0 That's what I don't get about "the fear" about Bluesky. I understand that if they federate there will be a plethora of VC powered developers ready to code the best app of all times but what about Pixelfed, Peertube, etc. that are already there?

Who cares if twitter's crowd will be on Bluesky? We need new poeple with a different mindset.

@sparkit @TheSteve0 #BlueSky, #ActivityPub / #Fediverse, #ScuttleButt, #Matrix, etcetera, are all attempting to build a decentralized social network which is good.

Thus far Matrix is the largest out there, followed by ActivityPub, but the end goal should be a decentralized social web.

@darnell @sparkit @TheSteve0

An effective P2P network should be the end goal. has the peer-to-peer SSB protocol.
