I wonder if Elon intends to "Name Names" when he releases these "Files" on Twitter relating to how users tried to silence other users by reporting them?

@dick_turpin
What he's referring to is the supposed govt pressure on Twitter to hide the story on Hunter Biden's laptop... The story that the reporters that wrote it refused to have their names on the byline because it was largely falsified by the editorial staff.

@Floyd I suspect there's more to it than that. I already know of a few people who have got their accounts back that were suspended by Twitter. Personally, I couldn't care less about Elon or Trump, for that matter, but I would say that Twitter seemed to stifle anyone even slightly right of centre and IMO silencing folk is never good.

@dick_turpin
They used to stifle misinformation and hate speech... Which did hit a lot of Trump supporters.

Elon has removed all the checks for those two categories and is letting those kicked off come back.

Unfortunately, he's lost half of the top 100 advertisers as they don't see the value on spending on a platform that's generating so much rubbish... The day he announced the new rules, the use of the n-word spiked over 500%.

Promises to be interesting to see how he services the $bn per year in interest on the loan he got to buy the company if he can't convince the advertisers to come back

@Floyd Folk need to keep in the back of their minds, "What's the alternative?" Don't get me wrong, I've always loved the Fediverse, but I just can't see it replacing Twitter, mainly because we have a different mindset here. People would be more up in arms about adverts than they would about anti-social behaviour.

The proof of that is some silly sod reported me to this instance admin a month or so ago for advertising Crypto. 🤦‍♂️

@dick_turpin
It's not about the users... They'll be ok as long as they can tweak to see the accounts they want and block those they don't.

It's a question on how Elon can service the debt with interest payments of a billion a year. He can't sell Tesla stock for that... If he did, the share price would crash and bring all his businesses tumbling.

He just doesn't seem to have an idea about what he's doing, or any plans... He's even abusing Apple in tweets for dropping their adverts, which doesn't seem to be a great way to get them back.

@Floyd Maybe he knows something we don't? I find it hard to believe a man who has built up the fortune he has is willing to throw it all away ostensibly to help out Trump? It's just an insane theory IMO.

What I would remind everyone is that he did walk away from the deal and was forced by the courts at the request of The Twitter owners to go ahead with the purchase so you could argue this is all Twitters fault. 🤣

It's not to help Trump... He doesn't even seem to like Trump. He makes random decisions and tweets them. He tried to get out of buying Twitter but got taken to court because he'd already signed the contract.
