I would say this is consistent with my experience. Revealing my diagnosis has typically shown how **unprepared** my employers have been at handing neurodiversity and mental health concerns.
Wonderful article from Wil Wheaton: on being told you are something you’re not

#ThankYou everyone who weighed in and schooled me on how to use #Mastodon more effectively. (#ThankYou especially to the folks who were nice about my rookie mistake in asking for a bigger audience.) I'll put your ideas into action, and I welcome any other advice.
We're extremely understaffed for social media and run by a bunch of #luddites. #CutUsSomeSlack.

Much of the reluctance to do what climate change requires comes from the assumption that it means trading abundance for austerity, and trading all our stuff and conveniences for less stuff, less convenience. But what if it meant giving up things we’re well rid of, from deadly emissions to nagging feelings of doom and complicity in destruction? What if the austerity is how we live now — and the abundance could be what is to come?

The Apple and iOS community lost one of the truly good ones recently.
Alex Hay, the developer of Toolbox Pro for Shortcuts, passed away last Saturday after a battle with cancer. He was 36.
The news left me devastated. With his family's blessing, we've decided to dedicate @AutomationApril to his memory. We'll be making donations to two cancer charities in his name; we encourage those who were fans of his work to do the same.
Alex was pure talent. We'll miss you.
I'm new here on zirk.us, having just migrated (very clumsily) from mastodon.online. So, I thought it would be nice to introduce myself again here.
I'm a poet, parent, I work part time in the humanitarian field, I was an actress & I love art, music, dance, film & theatre. I'm very concerned about the climate, womens' reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, migrant & refugee issues, human rights, AI & tech ethics, racism & ableism, & the state of our democracies. I may post a lot of poetry. Hi!
It's #introduction time!
Hello, Fediverse! I'm Liv. I'm a creative technologist and tech policy advocate focused on the immersive web and spatial computing.
I work at Mozilla, where I'm the Director of the Mozilla Hubs team, an #opensource social virtual world platform that aims to make #metaverse technology available to all in a safe, healthy, and dynamic way.
I'm also a student at Columbia Business School, where I'm studying for my #MBA and chair the Student Leadership & Ethics Board.
Well. The time has come, and I am looking for a job.
I am a full stack developer with five years experience, and additional seven years experience with PLSQL and large scale data integrations.
I’m down with #angular, #react, #dotnet, #sql. I learn new languages quickly, like working directly with customers, and have spent all five of my years building apps for Master Data Management teams.
Please boost! #FediHired
I suppose a new #introduction is in order.
I'm Mike Karliner, I've been programming since dinosaurs roamed the earth.

In a world where developers can get a lot of help from Copilot, ChatGPT, StackOverflow, etc., there are still certain coding skills that characterize the best software developers. As just one example, real developers use data types in a way that makes their code cleaner and more reliable -- they define types like "heightInCm" or "widthInPixels" instead of floats and ints, and suddenly code is 10x easier to reason about.
In your opinion, what are some other hallmarks of top 1% developers?
