1. Download the free and open source software Kiwix (this will be your reader): https://kiwix.org/en/applications/

2. If you want smaller versions of Wikipedia, you can download them within Kiwix.

Within the app, go to "Categories" in the menu on the left, then browse to a topic/version you want. Scroll to the bottom for Wikipedia mini, for example. Click on it then click "Download" on the right

3. Once you have downloaded a database, click on "Opened" on the left > database you want to search > "Open Main Page" on the right.

4. You can use the Search field on the upper-right to find topics like on online Wikipedia! 🔍

5. If you want the full English version of Wikipedia (110GB), you might want to download it from the torrent file instead. Install a torrent client of your choice (I use Transmission).

Then, go to this page, click on "Download - 109.89 GB" blue button on the first result (size may vary overtime), then select "Torrent file": https://library.kiwix.org/#lang=eng&category=wikipedia

6. Once you have the torrent file, open it with your torrent client to start the download. This is BIG! Be patient! 📦

7. Once the download is completed, open your Wikipedia `.zim` file with Kiwix!

34 years ago, at noon EST, Penny and I were married.

Her middle and JR High school boyfriend was the preacher that married us. . lol

He was actually married to the girl I took to my first school dance. But, unlike her and the preacher, we never fooled around under the bleachers. lol.

Awkward

We got stuck in an ice storm on our way west to our honeymoon destination and had to be rescued by the National Guard in the middle of nowhere after spending a few hours in the dark, cold car, surrounded by forests, trying to stay warm. yes, we stayed warmed😉 We spent our first night married in a church basement with a lot of strangers. They were very supportive and threw a makeshift party for us.

I think our biggest argument so far was over the garbage not getting taken out and the dishes not getting put in the dishwasher and that was early on as we were learning to live together. Over three decades later, if the sink is full or the garbage bag is nearly overflowing, we giggle at it.

My biggest tip to others is, don't lose yourself when you merge into the married unit. The other person will lose who they fell in love with and you will lose the person you fell in love with if you do. Try to find a balance.

It's been a hell of journey with many more miles of uncertain roads to travel together.
