To avoid second sock syndrome when I knit a pair of socks, I divide my yarn & start both socks, separately. (I use DPNs). Then I go back & forth between them: sock 1, knit toe, then same for sock 2, a bit at a time. Last night I finished the heel turn on sock 1. Now it’s sock 2’s turn.

@Archergal Me, too. It really works. Also both socks wind up having the same tension, too, so they are pretty much the same size. Whenever I complete one sock and then start the second sock, they always turn out to be different sizes.
