There are many things on a list of aspects of the #covid #pandemic that I wish should have been taken more seriously. But high on the under-appreciated points list, is the impact of high levels of circulation on ongoing evolution and the future course of the pandemic.

@ariskatzourakis I am concerned for the people of RSA where Covid is now handled as "a ordinary disease". People don't test, do not even wear masks if they have symptoms and send there kids maskless to school saying they all had "a cold the past week". Shocking vaccination rates and even more shocking booster uptake. My husband and I don't qualify for 2nd boosters because we are below 50. Our kids are below 12 and are not eligible for vaccination.
No urgency wrt updated boosters.

@ariskatzourakis About 2 weeks ago my husband tested a strong positive for Covid (grateful to have had antigen tests given by my SIL; RSA have no self tests). Our son got quite sick and developed tonsillitis. I am furious that we can't vaccinate our kids or get 2nd boosters. I would have preferred getting that BEFORE Covid. And since nobody is testing, a lot of people think Covid is over. Not a great situation.
