#introductions
Oh, I totally forgot about this... So, this is me:
I am a #linguist, working as a web editor/translation manager. I am a brand-new house owner and #homebrewer. I listen to #prog and other kinds of interesting music. I enjoy reading/watching #sci-fi and #fantasy in the broadest sense. I like #running (slowly) and #swimming (somewhat faster). I support #green thinking, #equality and political elightenment.

@miailee I’ve been around less than 24 hrs and tried the search. Found your intro and want to share I’ve swim for years but recently found really like Open Water Swimming. And got a book once about how to create my own language, not that I will do that, but learned a little about linguistics and liked that too. Just wanted to say hi and explore this new place.

@JC That's the first time someone contacts me bc of a hashtag, so they actually make sense!
As a child I swam a lot in lakes and I totally forgot how awesome this is until this summer. I choose the pool most of the time for convenience.
I never thought about creating my own language, but it's a great start to learn all the basics about language. What did you find most interesting?

@miailee About a new language definitely it is interesting how important is the circumstances of the people that defines the words they use. Like to name a specific time of the day when the sea level rises because for the people in the island is very important, so there would be no evening depending on the sun but a new word depending on the sea. It opened my mind. And how many vowels you have to choose from, there are like 40 or something like that.

@JC Yeah, daytimes are an interesting concept, like directions ("left" and "right" are just ONE way to express directions). What totally stunned me when I was studying were colours. I was sure that colours are universal until I thought about them as a spectrum and learned that there are languages with only two different colours.
