Battery powered vehicles have multiple strikes against them:
1. It is bad to charge them when not at least 1/2 empty, but then they are not ready to drive you when you need them.
2. As batteries age, the range drops. My Honda Clarity plug-in used to get 45 miles on battery, but after 4 years just gets 35 miles.
If a pure electric, it is costly to charge over 80% full, which again drops the range.
