This is what an Iron Age motorway looks like!
It's a drove road in Somerset's Quantock hills. An ancient trackway where you really feel the history. But those amazing beech trees are more recent - European beech isn't very long-lived.
Today is #TransDayofRemembrance when we honor and remember trans lives taken by violence. How horrifying that a deadly attack upon the LGBTQ+ community in Colorado Springs should occur right before this solemn day.
Hate isn’t born in us. It is taught. It must end.
This starts with our political leaders, who must cease their cynical attacks against our community before another attack occurs.
Call out the hate. Remind them of its consequences. Hold them to account.

📚 When I was the custodian of the birthplace of Welsh bible translator William Morgan, it saddened me when people dumped their old family Bibles outside our door in Tesco carrier bags

I love watching #Seals (from a distance safe for and respectful of them). Greys are #pupping at #Horsey #Norfolk just now. It’s so important to stay off the beach and keep behind the ropes. These I took standing with a volunteer using 800mm equiv’ lens, then cropped. 💕🦭🦭🦭 #wildlife #nature #naturephotography
This statue depicts Saint Bartholomew, an early Christian martyr who was allegedly skinned alive. If you look closely, you’ll notice that’s not a robe that he’s holding. It's actually his dissected skin hanging around him. This stunning statue is by the Italian sculptor Marco d’Agrate, c.1562. It is currently on display at Duomo di Milano in Italy. I've never seen it in person, but I hope I can one day! I think you'll agree, it's pretty awesome.
Well, with all these new people we should be in for a bumper #StandingStoneSunday tomorrow 🙂

Saturn, when viewed in the near-infrared methane absorption band, appears blue. You're able to peer through the upper hazes into the clouds below and the bands and belts start to take shape. It's still false color, but almost looks like a whole new planet.

I just dipped into Twitter to read the fantastic news that the Snowdonia National Park Authority has voted to use the original Welsh names Yr Wyddfa #YrWyddfa and #Eryri rather than the imposed English #Snowdon and #Snowdonia. It's a massive win for reclaiming our #Welsh cultural heritage. I honestly can't believe the amount of hatred, abuse and racism in the Twitter comments from English people. I've no idea why they are so angry that another country wants to use its own language. #Cymraeg 🏴
