I won't beat around the bush: I'm hostile to religious belief in general.

When I talk to non-believers outside of the US (especially Europe), they seem to have a blase attitude to religion. They don't connect the dots between bad societal behavior and religious ideation. It's understandable in context to more moderated beliefs in Europe, however I don't think they grasp how bad it is in the US. I would also be blase about belief if it were a passive harmless hobby.

@Omen I hear you. I tend to think that the failed epistemology of religious faith has metastasized throughout society here. In fairness though I think some of the magical / uncritical thinking in other parts of society (conspiracy theories, etc.) have a life of their own, so it's hard to tell if religion is a cause or a catalyst in any given situation.
