I'm so glad we didn't have social media most of the 20th century. We'd still be using leaded gasoline, lead paint, asbestos, and CFCs. We'd have endemic whooping cough and polio. Just to spite the stupid scientists.

@Cernovich 'Transmission' can mean an infected person infecting someone. Or it can mean the total number of people being infected in the population. This matters because it's possible for a vaccine to have no effect on the first, but to reduce the second drastically thus saving many lives.
