Well, this is a bit disheartening.
I wanted to checkout KDE. Seems a lot of work has gone in lately and it sounds like it's in good shape.
Installed #Pop_os, installed KDE via System 76's instructions.
I assume this is because Pop is built on Ubuntu, but KDE installs snapd and defaults the Discover snapd backend but NOT the flatpak back end. Effectively Ubuntu has hijacked KDE and indirectly Pop (and presumably other distros based on ubuntu).

the "amusing" part is that none of this is new. T-Mobile has faced repeated criticism and (wrist slap) fines for being sloppy on SIM hijacking and rampant location data collection and they were STILL compromised 100 times in a single year.

@rose What is REALLY weird to me about all this is that the later boomers were the ones who fought the hardest against school dress codes, although maybe that only happened in the poorer school districts, far from where the asshole kids born with silver spoons in their mouths attended. I remember as a small kid seeing teenage girls walking to school in the freezing cold with their bare legs exposed (even my dad thought that was nuts) but by the time I got to high school that wasn't so much of a thing anymore.
In fact if you ever wonder why some parents and grandparents are so ready to take on teachers and school districts today, I suspect a lot of it was because of crap like that, and when those kids grew up they were like "I'll be damned if I let some asshole teacher or principal do to my kids what they did to me." Unfortunately they seem to have forgotten what it was that really upset them back then and now they are opposing things that they shouldn't be against because it makes kids more vulnerable, like mandatory vaccinations. And still nobody is really doing a damn thing about school bullying (if you ever hear a school official say that they have a zero tolerance policy for bullying, what they really mean is they will never call any incident at that school a case of bullying, even if there is clear video, a thousand witnesses, and testimony by angels that clearly shows it was bullying).
Maybe lead exposure or drug experimentation really fucked up my generation that badly, I just don't know and I don't get why they are trying to take us back to the 1950's again. It's just crazy!
