When the volcano is in its sleeping mode, it is possible to filter out the volcanic signal:

Now, because lava crossed the access road to the station and cut off its power lines, the station is not operational.
There are a number of other CO2 sampling stations around the world. Hopefully it will be possible to get the Mauna Loa station back to work soon.

did y'all hear about the British grocery store that installed some tilework to advertise fractal broccoli, and it was so beautiful it was immediately declared a world heritage site? if you get a chance you should absolutely go see the romanesco fresco at the UNESCO Tesco

Con esto de seguir #Mosstodon mi timeline se ha llenado de musgo. Me gusta.

Key points from the article:

You can catch Covid multiple times.

Reinfections are common, not rare.

Breakthrough infections are common.

Covid can kill you months after you recover.

It can cause brain damage.

It can cause blood clots and heart attacks.

It doesn’t spare children.

I made a tweet about the shooting at a drag show in a gay club. Got a message criticizing “your kind.”
My kind is old, white, male, straight & cisgender.
But if I had to choose, I'd stand with POCs, women & LGBTQ folks. They tend to have more empathy, not to mention better music.

If this was the truth, she would have testified.

Except there are severe penalties for lying to a judge.

No penalties for lying to Canadians however.

And so every year we stomp on their chains and drag away the sawhorses and assert our right to use our space as best we can. And this year, someone has chained a snow shovel to the railing, so that we can help our neighbours.

I’m so proud of my #Centretown neighbours. Every winter the City of #Ottawa installs anti-pedestrian infrastructure at the corner of #DundonaldPark, a park used very heavily, especially by the thousands of us who don’t have yards and/or cars here. It’s not enough to *warn* residents that they won’t shovel the stairs. They also try to block off the railing so we have to slalom down the icy hillside with no support.

Your brain comes with its own mental photoshop. In this image there is no yellow. Mouse over closely and you'll see that each line in that circle is white. Your brain--a brilliant three pound mass of fat, water, protein, carbohydrates and salts--fills in the yellow colour for you.

I just read in today’s Globe and Mail that: “Queen’s Park has also agreed to pay the city of Toronto for money it loses because of Bill 23 – a piece of housing legislation, which was signed into law this week, that waives some development charges to spur construction.” Lets just remember that we, the taxpayers, pay our income tax to Queen’s Park - so Ford is promising to let the breadwinners in the province pay for Developmental costs for the Developers …+

Love the Republicans who quickly slide from "Putin had to invade Ukraine because of something about Nazis" to "You know Kanye's still making some good points."

I love working with students because they regularly ask me questions I don't know the answers to. It's the best — no one gives you better free pointers about things to learn more about and study next.

Saturn has at least 83 moons. Titan, the largest, is bigger than the planet Mercury and if you count the extent of its atmosphere the largest in the solar system. Enceladus is home to massive cryovolcanic plumes and is one of the best places in the solar system to look for signs of microbial life. Hyperion looks like a sponge and Mimas looks like the Death Star.

@enerjazz @godpod It's true! We've been making an egregious spelling mistake with "God" for millenia. All praise and glory to Saint Dan Piraro for bringing us enlightenment!
