Me: I know panty hose are a little dated but I love how they even out my skin tone
Bank Teller: So is this not a robbery?
Me: No, It is

Think the main difference between the two platforms is on Twitter when you make a joke you get one haha and two death threats, whereas on here you get one haha and someone earnestly explaining the 6th century origins of the specific road that particular chicken crossed. Yet to decide which is more distressing.

shout out #PublicLibraries. went to my local library today and it was amazing. i loved the library as a kid, we'd go and i would get soooo many novels. only realized this trip as an adult that they have books on every hobby or skill you could ever want! and audiobooks on Libby! I'm very excited to have rediscovered this treasure trove in my current phase of life. i got a bunch of art books and gardening books and cook books. go to your library!!!

@ottaross Hmm, could be - I wouldn't be surprised if the Buffalo crowd leans towards the big commercial social sites...

Musk has used "Vox, populi, Vox Dei" to justify reinstating Trump on #Twiiter. But the quote is from a letter from Alcuin to the Emporer Charlemagne urging him to resist such ideas, "Nec audiendi qui solent dicere, Vox populi, vox Dei, quum tumultuositas vulgi semper insaniae proxima sit." Which translates as "And do not listen to those who keep saying, 'The voice of the people is the voice of God', because the tumult of the crowd is always close to madness."

@ottaross Lots on the news sites. Nice to see drivers in Buffalo clear off their cars as well as we do 😄

@BrownKnowser Good, and you? 😄
Today will be a imx of trying to sell old furniture and learning to use a couple of apps... I'm an old dog, but always up for new tricks 😊

...Time to clear the snow off the windows of the car, and let the greenhouse effect do its thing...

I'm already missing the days when you could just slip on some shoes, and run outside to do anything without all the prep. Even getting the dog out for his bedtime pee is a production. At least there will be winter stars (and planets!) to gaze at 😊

@blurrybitsphoto@mastodon.online @Siril_Official @darktable I love that second pic! It really captures the vastness of space in a way that the prettier pics of M31 don't, somehow.

Holiday Bakers: If you like Gay Lea butter, it’s on sale at the Superstore for $4.49 until November 23. Limit of 6. Both salted and unsalted. #Ottawa

This shouldn’t need to be said: While you might disagree with the idea that we #BringBackMasks to keep students and educators from ending up sick or in hospital, or you’re angry that we might prevent you from spreading disease, you cannot swear, insult, or threaten. Seriously.

Water seeps into tiny pore spaces between the crystals and grains in rock. As the water freezes it expands by 9% and is one of the major erosional processes called frost wedging, indeed one of the strongest.

This is a boulder, the size of a small boulder, from the Tuolumne Meadows Campground in Yosemite, California, one of my favorite places on Earth. My profile banner picture is Tuolumne Meadows.

Funny, a lot of those pictures that have the caption saying "They'll have to pave this soon!" just look like springtime in Ottawa... With fewer potholes...

Good morning people! Nothing like a dog barfing on the carpet to get everyone up in a hurry! 😄

Ever wondered why VGA cables have screws to affix it to a PC?

they put a christmas sweater on the t-rex at the national history museum in london and it's ridiculous and adorable

Gonna start saying "hey stranger" to complete strangers.

People get that light takes time to reach us, yet as the distances grow into billions of light-years, the scales start to boggle the brain.

Researchers at John Hopkins University have built an interactive map of the Universe that contains actual observed galaxies and quasars from the nearby Universe to 13+ billion years ago.

You can see why a powerful infrared telescope like JWST is vital to understanding the farthest distances near the beginning of time.
