I basically stopped working for Kohler back in the day purely because of the emotional toll of spending 2hrs per day in the car. If there was a Hiawatha-style commuter line, I would likely still be working there, today.

"Seven Wisconsin cities: Green Bay, Appleton, Kaukauna, Menasha, Neenah, Oshkosh and Fond du Lac sent a letter to the Federal Railyard Administration urging the government to extend Amtrak service to the North of Milwaukee."

I used to live & work in Sheboygan. 5 years later, I still felt like an "outsider," so I moved to a different part of the state.

Now, I get to WFH, which is great. But I would love to see train service expanded across Wisconsin. I love taking the train from MKE Airport into Chicago, and it would be great to travel more of the state that way!

@Mousebumples Talking to coworkers back in the day, it sounded like the only two options for tech work around there were Acuity and Kohler. I was looking at one point at moving to Port Washington or Oostburg but with family and friends in Milwaukee, that would have been really hard.

Commuter rail would be huge for that area.

Sounds about right. I try to get back to that area every now and again (3 Sheeps is among my favorite breweries in the state, and I love taking my kids to Bookworm Gardens), but commuter rail would have been a great option - and will be for hopefully the future.
