some notes reading zoom's "oh shit we need to explain this" post about their TOS change on training AI:

1. the post talks about "your" consent, but the "you" here is a "customer", not "an end-user of zoom"
2. the person who provides consent is an account owner or administrator (i.e. likely not "you”)
3. "participants" are notified that someone else has consented for them

it's very carefully worded: customers aren’t the same as users

@danhon this actually is a big relief for me as I never gave consent and I never opted in via this interface.

@dangrsmind kinda doesn't matter - it means your host will have given consent and opted in, and if they have you'd get notified on joining the meeting. Only option then is to not join the meeting.

@danhon but I'm the host and I never enabled this and won't. Problem solved for me but I understand that it might not be the case in other scenarios.

Read section 10.4 carefully - it allows Zoom to "share" Customer Content, and those with whom it is shared can use it for "machine learning" and "artificial intelligence". Zoom's carefully-worded promise at the bottom is moot if the training can be done with third parties' AI models instead.
