This is amazing work by @alshafei and team. You can search by company, country and funding entity, and learn things like:
"safeXai is the entity that has quietly resumed the operations of Banjo, a digital surveillance company whose founder, Damien Patton, was a former Ku Klux Klan member who’d participated in a 1990 drive-by shooting of a synagogue near Nashville, Tennessee."
@timnitGebru @alshafei
"There was an error initialising the 3D globe visualisation, which indicates that this browser is not supported.
Please try again with a different browser."
🤬
@matera @alshafei Mastodon behavior: "I use a browser that 0.5% of people in the world use, and here is a project by volunteer harassed and surveilled people mapping out surveillance around the world, and I'm not asking how I could help, but demanding that they work on my specific browser that I'm using."
@matera
The page requires WebGL, which ironically is a strong fingerprinting vector. Good privacy-focused browsers like Librewolf and Mull disable WebGL by default.
In `about:config`, the toggle is `webgl.disabled`.
You can check your browser's configuration at https://get.webgl.org/
@Parienve @timnitGebru @alshafei ah, clue - ty :)
