@worldsendless Depending on the situation, inbox filters that go to Trash might help.

Help Alexandra Write

@alexandra
The character would probably feel some embarrassment, although the third point strengthens the case. The friends would probably find the belief reasonable, but their degree of belief would depend on what they consider a "divine entity".

There would be less doubt and less embarrassment if the setting includes substantive evidence for the existence of divine entities, even if no such entities had been directly observed up to this point.

Further, depending on the setting, the character might alternately suspect some kind of simulation, especially if they are familiar with the mediocrity principle. In this case, the friends would probably doubt this hypothesis, but not discount it entirely.

As epistemic rationalists who are friends, they are likely to discuss the topic at some length with genuine curiosity.

As instrumental rationalists, the risk of strained friendships due to the lopsided power dynamic, regardless of the answer to the divinity question, will be common knowledge.

VPN, privacy

@thor @evelyn Nord is shady enough that I wouldn't trust them even if they offered a package like that. Besides, vendor diversification is usually better for privacy. For example, my primary search engine also has a browser, but I don't use the browser.

It's *slightly* more meaningful than a fortune cookie, but just so. The problem with the MBTI is that it treats the four "dichotomies" as bimodal. Lots of people are near the middle - about half of people who re-test get at least one different letter. But adding those "middle" categories would mean 65 more types, so the people making the tests don't bother.

Does anybody know whether the Daum search engine (Korean) uses an independent index+crawler or uses another engine's API? Been trying to figure out and the language barrier is making it hard for me to find answers...

@jalefkowit@octodon.social Maybe will the thing to a charitable trust?

@Linux_in_a_Bit
By the way, the French term for "operating system" is "système d’exploitation".

@Linux_in_a_Bit
It's L1 interference. They say "operativsystem" in the Continental Scandinavian languages, and "sistema operativo" in several Romance languages, including Spanish and Italian.

@alexandra 16MB _should_ have been enough for everybody. I'm dead serious :D!

Reduce, reuse, recycle.

But:

- In order to reduce, there need to be proper infrastructure to compensate for the thing being reduced;
- In order to reuse, things need to be durable and easily maintainable, modularly upgradable and repairable;
- If you go to the recycle step ignoring the first two, you've already lost.

As we see, just "changing consumer habits" doesn't work.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

git pro tip

`git log -S some_variable_name` returns all commits where `some_variable_name` is in the diff (either removed, added, or modified)

super useful for tracking down regressions where you know the variable that's the culprit

@deshipu@mastodon.technology @chartier ProtonMail is kind of a special case because messages are encrypted on the server and decrypted client-side.

Do I know any one with experience with alpine/pmos or arch/manjaro packaging, and has some free time to spare a couple of free software projects? I want to package some mobile python apps for #pmos and #manjaro but I rather not learn yet another packaging format beside deb/rpm/setuptools which I am allready managing 😅.

Praise Dobbs for f3(1) "fight fraudulent flash".

I purchased 2TB flash drives, ran "f3probe -n -t /dev/sdX" on them, only for them to report 29 GB usable.

Hello 1 star review, report to Amazon for false advertizing, and full refund return.
