How to remote connect to grandma's Ubuntu in 2024 ?

My grandma doesn't know how to manage router settings to open ports. Is there a way for me to remote connect to her PC anyway ?

Is that what #noMachine and the likes do ?

@lefarfadet I would recommend , for it's been super handy, and I can connect through the internet without opening ports or anything

@warper @lerudd @LinuxToday it's not Windows, it's something more stable, modern, efficient and as powerful as you want

@warper @LinuxToday for the longest time, it was soundcard, and i've still never had problems with network hardware. pls take this in the positive: hopefully you have stumbled onto some anomalies.

@LinuxToday one of the most important pieces of hardware that should be tested extensively before jumping is the wireless card.
#Linux is capable of handling most of them but some need more attention than others

@lerudd @LinuxToday for me, it's been wireless adapters.
Sometimes they work on the live environment and they don't on the installed system.
For a newbie to #Linux this could be challenging nevertheless Windows has its own weirder issues.
Anyone new to #Linux needs to understand that it's not Windows

WIRED article forecasting the generative AI bubble will burst in 2025. This is more optimistic than my own expectations, but if WIRED are printing it, it's the direction sentiment in Silicon Valley is running in.

(Hint: there's gold in AI, but it's in *analytical* AI, aka big data, not stochastic parrot bullshit.)

A quicker access to #plots?

@labplot@lemmy.kde.social

Boosts appreciated! 🙂 :boost_love:

To make it easier to access the many plots that have already been available in #LabPlot for a long time, we have added multiple dedicated items for these plots to the context menu.

The video below shows how to quickly access them in LabPlot [nightly]. We plan do add many more preconfigured plots to the context menu.
