@OpenComputeDesign I remember that a Thinkpad, I think it was X201, had options (official and unofficial) to upgrade it from an i5 M540 to an i5 or i7 6th gen or something like that.

Mine is an IdeaPad 3 17ADA05 with Ryzen 7 3xxx and uses the same MoBo as the 15ADA05, but I found very similar MoBos (at least visually), with Intel and even with a Ryzen 4xxx.

That's why I ask. Don't know if someone has had experience making upgrades like these in this line of Lenovo.

@warper I can't say for sure. But if everything is in the same place between both models, then it does have every chance of working.

I don't know about the model you have, but I have heard of this sort of upgrade on other laptops

I have a damaged Lenovo IdeaPad 3 (my kid spilled some water on it). I tried to dry it up and clean it to see if it works but in the end it doesn't.
I've been looking for a motherboard replacement for that machine and I finally found it, but something that catches my attention is that there are, at least, two different MoBo models for the same machine.

Does anyone know if there's any chance to change (upgrade) the MoBo to a higher specs one?
I mean the original was able to drive a Ryzen 3xxx but there's a very similar MoBo that has a 4xxx series and that would be an interesting upgrade.
