A 'cri de cœur' to manufacturers of fridges and freezers please, PLEASE make the doors of these appliances self-closing.
@Paulos_the_fog Here's a 1985 U.S. report about asphyxiation and coolers:

I take your point but very, very few fridges or freezers in Europe have catches that lock on closing - all the ones I have ever seen have magnetic closures that no trapped child would have any difficulty whatsoever overcoming by simply pushing on them!!
@Paulos_the_fog I believe the doors are *not* self-closing quite on purpose to keep them from so easily trapping little children and suffocating or freezing them! There was a spate of product-safety lawsuits roughly fifty years ago following a few unfortunate mishaps, some to do with abandoned units that were dumped on open empty lots and became the unauthorized playthings of neighborhood kids.
