When I was at school, we were told Israel was great - at last a homeland for the wandering Jew. People used to talk about going to work in kibbutz. On the news was Yasser Arafat and the PLO and these were terrorists while President Carter and Israel tried to sort out peace. That was the prevailing view for British kids my age.
Young people today will never have that view. Israel has tossed that away and become a pariah state much as South Africa was for my generation.
I held exactly the same view. In fact, the Israeli propaganda machine worked so well (with a lot of help from the murderous idiots who have run Palestine since the creation of the state of Israel), that my views have only just swung round to supporting the Palestinian cause rather than the Israeli one!
What the state of Israel is perpetrating now is genocide with no legal or moral justification whatsoever.
@Paulos_the_fog And for what? As far as I can see, this is disastrous for normal Israelis. It seems like a very narrow agenda is being forced through by extremists. Like Brexit but with added slaughter.
I have no personal experience of Israel but friends who have visited say that they hated the place and couldn't wait to get out of it. If that is the view of the majority of Israelis then I can understand why.
What the state of Israel is now perpetrating against the Palestinians is exactly the same as the horror perpetrated on the Jews by the Nazis; the only difference is scale not intent. It is without a doubt a crime against humanity.
