I’ve heard they suck but I’ve never had ‘em ‘cause I’ve been vaccinated against measles from when I was little. I’d really not like to have to worry about getting ‘em now at the age of 60 because some fucking conspiracy theory wielding heroin addict slated to be HHS secretary in the Mango Mussolini’s “administration” deems it so.

@BrianJopek When I was little the only vaccinations were polio and tuberculosis. We had mumps, measles, rubella, chickenpox: and I had scarletina also. One of my siblings had rheumatic fever. None of it was affirmative, pleasant or positive. My (now adult) children have been vaccinated against all and are very fortunate in that. Measles / rubella permanently affects hearing and eyesight in many: women who are in very early pregnancy carry a foetus with life changing disabilities if they are in contact with these infections. Mumps can affect reproductive organs particularly in boys and men. All of this is avoidable with a decent public health policy. Encouraging the health scammers into the market is going to cost lives.
I had a heated discussion with someone on the web about vaccines.
He insisted that they are all bad, none of them work, and all the usual bullshit that anti-vaxxers come out with.
I asked him therefore, theorectically, if he were to be bitten by a dog or other mammal that was known to be rabid, if he would allow himself to be vaccinated against rabies (the rabies vaccine is effective for up to 48 hours following a bite from a rabid animal). He said no but that he would treat the bite with lavender oil which he insisted was far more effective than the rabies vaccine!
Rabies results in an absolutely awful death during the throes of which morphine and other pain killers are largely ineffective!

Almost unknown in the UK and very rare in mainland Europe BUT common as muck in some places I have lived , e.g. Thailand - it is estimated that up to 40% of 'soi dogs' (feral dogs that wander round towns and villages in Thailand) are infected with rabies and I would guess that the same applies to the similar feral dogs in India, Pakistan and other parts of Asia.

Has he told this miracle cure to farmers with herds still afflicted with TB, despite isolations and despite removing every badger for miles around?
Some people just cannot be reasoned with. They have to be left to find out the hard way, as they surely will, eventually.
