@ChrisMayLA6 the pump storage at Cruachan which I think opened up in 1963 or 64 is currently being upgraded to increase its capacity from 400 MW to 600 MW.
And there are multiple pump storage projects in the pipeline on the Scottish grid. The Loch Lochy project is for 1800 MW.

@ChrisMayLA6 when these first pumped storage Hydro stations were built all power generation and supply was nationalised. However the decision to build more capacity was not by the local supplier but the Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB) who ran the the grid. The first pump storage was to balance coal power stations.
If we still had a strategic body with oversight of generation and distribution, we would not now be in the position where renewable generation is so constrained.
I worked for the National Grid (plc?) in Guildford shortly after they were sold off into the private sector. What an absolute shower of shit they were!
