As a responsible driver, who only uses my car to get about because I couldn't do so otherwise, I have some real niggles with irresponsible drivers.
1. Highway code says you must not park withing 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction. This makes it difficult to see traffic in both directions when pulling out of a side road. Near me, some actuall park right on the junction.
2. Parking in Bike Lanes including stopping in the area marked for cycles at traffic lights.
3. Parking in Blue Badge spaces without a blue badge (noticed this more recently).
4. Parking on pavements, especially where they straddle yellow lines as if that gives them immunity. Pavements are for pedestrians. They are not for cars or cycles.
5. Not indicating when manoeuvring or turning far enough in advance. It's generally though to be good practice if making to turn to turn on the indicators from a junction before where you wish to make the turn.
6. Parking and blocking a driveway. This is now against the law although our crap police forces rarely act or tow as they are supposed to.
7. Using a mobile phone or other device whilst driving. This includes hands free phones. It's distracting. The only use I will use a mobile phone in the care is if a) I'm using the Satnav feature where it's not touched during the journey, or if stopped in a safe place because of breakdown.
8. Never reading the up to date highway code after passing a driving test. It should be read from time to time to be aware of changes to the law.
9. If you can use public transport, and it goes to where you need then please use it for all or part of your journey..
10. Stop using your car for the school-run. Kids can walk to school, and if too far, they can get a bus as I did as a child (Walked to Primary, Bused to Secondary). It's often during peak time when people are going to and from work.
11. If it's a two lane road, don't park on both sides of the road, even using the pavement. It means jams because vehicles have to drive down the middle of the road and can't do so in both directions.
And there are so many others.
Please be a considerate use of the road (and pavements).
@Paulos_the_fog It's illegal now to use a mobile phone even hands free nowadays. I disconnected my Bluetooth settings from the car so the microphone is redundant now.
