Atheist; loathe almost all religions and pity the people deluded enough to follow them. I make exceptions for Buddhism as it isn't really a religion in the strictest sense of the word as it doesn't postulate the existence of any god, and Jainism which is the epitome of peace.
For anyone who is interested, my header photo is of the most stupendous sunset I have ever seen. On the right is the waterfront of Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on the left is Thailand and in the middle, acting as the border between the two countries is the mighty Mekong river.

Noteworthy how Legislators instinctively meddle downwards.
It really isn't local government that the British Electorate wants to see fixed, UK Labour, but central government.
They want reform of the bloated House of Lords. A proper Code of Ministerial Conduct, with enforcement taken away from the Prime Minister. A ban on second jobs, honours for cronies, & corrupt donations.

if you took all the money private insurers spend to deny/delay claims, and threw it towards a universal health system, the US would literally have one of the best free health systems in the world, with money left over for other nice things like child care
but somehow no one can convince the population that $2000 in taxes for free and comprehensive, is better than $8000, where you still have huge co-pays and fight every single step

I’m having difficulty seeing a distinction that is a difference between what RFK Jr. has been doing/plans to do and what a bioterrorist does.
Harm and generating mass death in the service of a destructive ideology is at the center of both.
Look on the bright side - anti-vax politics could result in millions of Americans being killed and maimed but it will be the fantasically stupid, Trumpist-MAGA imbeciles who will mainly suffer. That may be of immense benefit to the USA in the long term!

I offer an anecdote on the RFJ Jr antivax #polio BS to put all in context.
My mom is 88, born in 1936. She knew classmates who were maimed and died from polio in the 1940s.
These events happened within living memory and these anti-science idiots would take us back to that time. Fck them all.

Given the number of screw-ups at Boeing plus other stuff I have heard about maintenance engineers finding swarf in voids where it shouldn't be and even sizeable assembly tools left in voids on new Boeing aircraft, I am beginning to wonder if Boeing should still be allowed to put passenger's lives at risk by manufacturing aircraft.
I fear that means that as a nation, the USA believes that being able to kill people who are both poor and ill or 'defective' in some way is right and proper. This is precisely what the Nazis did to the handicapped and infirm - so isn't it heartwarming that the good ole USA feels able to do the same but passively, by denying them the medical treatment they need to stay alive, rather than actively by using gas chambers.
...and French people, and Belgian people, and Luxembourgish people etc etc etc.
It always annoys me when Brits kick off about the NHS - like other countries don't have healthcare systems.
Shall I just whisper this - healthcare in Luxembourg is orders of magnitude better than the NHS! People here would be outraged if they couldn't get an appointment with a GP within 48 hours; they would be outraged if they couldn't find a dentist who provided treatment under the healthcare system.
There are virtually no waiting lists except for some specialized MRI scans - if your case is non-urgent you might have to wait for a few weeks or even a few months but anything marked urgent by the prescribing doctor is dealt within days or hours!
What a load of nonsesnse!
Many countries in Europe and elswhere have had doctor assisted euthanasia for years and there is no evidence that it is used as a method of disposing of the 'inconvenient'. But of course the British have to reinvent the bloody wheel as they always do!
That is UNAMERICAN!
He was just doing his job - maximizing profit for his company whilst not giving a flying fuck who got damaged or killed along the way!
