I've had a dreadful time working on my book over the last couple of days. Yesterday I was reading about the murder of a queer person by Catholics in 17thC Brazil — makes particularly awful reading when the only source on the atrocity treats it as a great and noble act. Today I spent hours trying to track down a source that doesn't exist.
@alexwest Have the few days after that dreadful time been better?
@PhilologicalEssayist Yes, much better! Writing this book has been a very enjoyable process so far, with only a few exceptions.

Speaking of writing, I'll have some short article-cum-announcement posted on "my" Substack before Xmas (will toot a link to it on here, too), but I am always envious of those who can rightfully claim that writing is enjoyable for themselves.
