"Drivers slow down and pedestrians and cyclists make sure you can be seen" - the advice from the Road Safety Authority for Storm Agnes.

I'm not sure what more I can do to "be seen", I can't force people driving to pay attention to what's on the road in front of them.

How about telling drivers to give extra space while overtaking people cycling? Or even better, don't overtake people cycling unless absolutely necessary. You don't really need to get to that next red light first.

@ccferrie maybe cyclists should knock on the window to each driver and ask them “did you see me?” to make sure they were seen?

@ProfT Funny, I actually did that this morning on my commute, to the driver who pulled into the bus/bike lane in front of me.

@ProfT @ccferrie I did that, and the driver reported me to the police for criminal damage. I kid you not.

@Stripymoggie @ProfT I would well believe it. Many drivers see their vehicle as an extension of their body and any "assault" on their vehicle as a personal assault.
