@HellaButts So long as users are on the platform, Reddit can make the rules. They are the judge, jury, and executioner. Every protest is a losing battle. The only way to win the war is for everyone to leave the platform.
I just received the following notice from #Reddit regarding r/Passwords.
Ironically, our community voted to keep the sub private just last weekend. I am doing explicitly what the community wants.
⚠️ PSA for sleeping #Reddit users. The whole service will likely implode after July 1st. You still have 10 days left to save your posts and comments.
There is a handy tool, which dumps users posts and comments to a psqlite database, which can then be read by using a local datasette and a browser. Works great.
An update on Redditanic's sinking and Steve Huffman’s megalomania:
Large subs are being nuked of their mods. r/mildlyinteresting had their whole mod team suspended and removed. r/TIHI and r/interestingasfuck show up as unmoderated (and therefore open to scabs to apply to become mods).
At least two of these have had polls and overwhelming user support for the protests.
In The Good Place lingo: Steve Huffman is a giant forking bench who takes cork up the ash for pennies.
#reddit banned all moderators from r/TIHI and suspended their accounts - NSFW labeling would scare members. Moderators responded with DMCA takedown notice: https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/67350

"My long-term vision for RedReader is to restructure the app to more easily support other sites, including Lemmy" -RedReader
RedReader is a Reddit app with over 100k downloads on the Google Play store
"I think it would be cool to work with some kind of "open forum protocol" which would allow a variety of websites and apps to interoperate with each other through a uniform API."

Been using #Lemmy for the past week or so and have honestly been really happy with it so far! I haven't really touched #Reddit since and I also haven't really missed it. Always great to see services in the #Fediverse becoming more and more popular :-)
Multiple subreddit moderator teams have already been replaced by Reddit corporate. This message was sent to /r/watchpeopledieinside from Reddit admins. If subreddit mods don’t comply they will find people who will.
Google made it official that important apps like Messaging and Dialer are no longer maintained in the Android Open Source project. A free Android on its own is pretty much useless now.

The r/OpenStreetMap subreddit is temporarily closing for a few days, as part of the site wide protest against the proposed new reddit changes which would adversely affect the community there.

The history of digital sound has a curveball in it I didn't expect - years before the CD existed, you could buy a digital audio recorder and make your own digital recordings at home!
If, that is, you also had a VCR.
